How I Discovered A “Cheat Code” For My Cricut (And Made All My Friends Jealous!)

If you’re a proud owner of a Cricut machine, you’re familiar with the promise of endless creativity it holds. It’s like a key, ready to unlock a world of personalized crafts, intricate designs, and DIY projects.

But as many Cricut owners discover, there’s a hurdle to cross before reaching that crafting paradise – the app that powers it all, Design Space.

Mastering Design Space can feel like learning a new language. It’s powerful, but it can also be daunting, especially for those not naturally tech-savvy, like me.

You’ve probably found yourself staring at the screen more times than you’d like to admit, feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed.

The truth is, crafting should be fun, not frustrating. It should be a release, a way to express your creativity and make something beautiful. The technical side of things shouldn’t stand in your way.

I remember my first encounter with Design Space. I was so excited to start creating with my Cricut machine, but I quickly found myself lost in a maze of menus and options.

Minutes turned into hours as I searched the internet for instructions on even the simplest tasks. Each new project felt like a daunting puzzle to solve. And just when I thought I had figured something out, I would forget it by the time I needed to do it again. It was maddening, to say the least.

One day, after a particularly frustrating session with Design Space, I decided that enough was enough. I couldn’t keep struggling like this so I started writing down each of the steps for the different tasks I was doing.

Before I knew it, I had a collection of cheat sheets for the most common tasks in Design Space. Having these guides on hand was a game-changer. No more scouring the internet for how-to’s or re-watching tutorials. Everything I needed was right there in front of me.

In no time I was on my way to mastering my Cricut. I was now able to zip through Design Space effortlessly, knowing exactly where everything was and how to do what I needed to do. It’s an amazing feeling when something that has been frustrating you to no end suddenly just clicks, as I’m sure you can imagine!

I began experimenting with new designs and features that I was previously too daunted to try. It was really satisfying to be able to turn an idea into reality.

And although it probably didn’t seem like anything special to anyone else, as a beginner I was insanely proud of myself and what I was now able to make.

That was the start of my Cricut obsession! I started spending whole afternoons just making things. It was incredibly rewarding. And when friends visited they’d usually notice my new Cricut creations and give them compliments. They even started calling me the “Cricut Queen.”

And that’s when I realized that all of this was thanks to being able to use Design Space properly because of the step by step notes that I’d made.

It struck me that it was a huge shame that so many other people were in the same situation and never got to experience the joy that creativity could bring. So I started working on a more formal guide, taking screenshots of the steps, adding annotations and notes, and organizing everything into a easy-to-use format.

And so, after about a month the “Design Space Ultimate Guide” was born. The name’s a bit corny, I admit, but it does what it says on the tin. It’s the guide I wish I had when I first started out – a tool to take the guesswork out of Design Space and allow anyone focus on what they love most: creating beautiful crafts with their Cricut machine.

The guide ended up being 118 pages, fully color-coded, and was quite a whopper to print out. Normally it would cost $30 – $40 to get it printed and bound at a local printer.

Instead, I decided to make it available as a digital download so that anyone can access it from their computer (and get it printed off if they wanted to).

So if you’re interested in mastering your Cricut (and impressing your friends!), I’ve made the Design Space Ultimate Guide available as an ebook.

Normally it sells for $19, but if you sign up to my email newsletter (unashamed plug), you’ll get $10 off.
